Tiana (Amari) Harilela - Yoga Teacher (Core Team)

Born and raised in Hong Kong and Indian by origin, Tiana (Amari) started practicing yoga from a young age following the spiritual teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda with whom her family has been affiliated with since the 1950’s. A significant part of her development into adulthood has been influenced by his teachings as she had such a close bond with him since she was a little girl.

Prior to teaching yoga, Tiana worked in the corporate world for 11 years. She has worked with global companies such as the LVMH Group and  The Financial Times.

She has spent significant time in Mysore practicing at the source with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. She first traveled to Mysore in 2006 and then continued for every year (sometimes twice per year) up until 2011. She was Authorised by Sharath Jois in 2010. Her affiliation with Sharathji and the Ashtanga community continues on until today, where she organised the first ever workshop for  Sharathji in Portugal in 2018 drawing close to 300 people.

In 2005, she received her Teacher Training from Centered Yoga with Paul Dallaghan and it was during this time, where she was introduced by Paul to Sri O. P. Tiwari, a pranayama master in the tradition of Swami Kuvalayananda, the honored teacher, and founder of the Pranayama Kaivalyadhama Institute in Lonavla, India. She has taken advanced training with Tiwariji in pranayama and the study of the ancient texts of Hatha Yoga. She spent time learning the details of pranayama from him and Paul and how to balance though this ancient teaching. She believes that by committing and surrendering to her teachers she has found solid grounding and growth develop in her own practice and teaching.

She has taught all over the world - Hong Kong, Thailand, London, India, Portugal, Jamaica, Jakarta, Singapore, Costa Rica and Mainland China where she was part of the teaching faculty for China’s first Yoga Conference in Shanghai. She has also taught at many silent retreats with Sri Mooji at Zmar and at Monte Sahaja often drawing large crows of over 100 people.

She has been featured in Vogue India, The Hong Kong Tatler, Namaskar, Life & Style Magazine, The Sindhian and The South China Morning Post.

She continues to teach between Hong Kong and Portugal where she is based.

In addition to Ashtanga, Tiana has completed several other trainings. She also teaches pre-natal, post-natal, kids yoga as well as Integral yoga. With the blessing of Sri O.P Tiwari, she continues to teach Pranayama and she is also an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) with Yoga Alliance International and she is a YACEP (Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider).

Her own practice is cultivated towards her pranayama and sitting practice, where she has found the pointing towards her “True Self”.
